To kick off the Christmas season, I always like to make something new to add to our decor.
This year, I decided to make an advent calendar. And I love how it turned out!!
I sewed little pouches, envelopes, and stockings, and hid treats and messages inside.
But my favorite thing about it was making a list of everything we want to do in December, and putting it into my calendar, which coordinates with the 25 pouches. It has helped me feel less worried about finishing "everything" before Christmas. We just take one day at a time! It's a great December stress solution!!
And the kids love it too...

Yours is so much cuter than mine. :) But we also love having daily activities scheduled for December. I discovered a new favorite activity this year: we called and sang Christmas carols to the grandparents on the phone and on Facetime. They loved it, and so did we. Merry Christmas!
its beautiful Tricia! WE do something similar, but our 'pouches and stockings' are different sized/shaped metal buckets. They are tucked all over the library...the kids pick the day's bucket when they come in for scriptures. Often there is a little story, scripture or thought along with the day's activity and a little treat. I have truly enjoyed this tradition and the kids like it too!
I love it!! You have fabulous fabric! I made something very similar for my sisters this year. It was a hanging quilt with pockets. Then I made fun tags to go in each pocket that they can write a scripture or an activity that coordinates with the day. Now to make myself one...:)
So cute! I love it! We read a Christmas story every night during the month of December. Drew and I have done it since we got married. The kids love the stories, they are like friends and they remind us of the reason of the season. We miss you guys!
so cute!
Oh! So darling!! And I love the idea of the corresponding Christmas activity!!! Would you mind sharing the activity list? I seem to always get stuck after about 10!
Some activities we do in December are, see the lights at temple square, see a production(A Christmas Carol, Nutcracker, Savior of the World), make goodies, go caroling, drive around the neighborhoods to look at house lights, service project (feed the homeless, collected things needed for a shelter, Christmas for a needy family), decorate the house, make ornaments, go to zoo lights, celebrate the three birthdays that are around this time in my family...
PRECIOUS Tricia! I love it! Really cute!
